Working at Treetop Quest was great last year, and I returned for my second season yesterday! I work as an Operator/Rescuer and Team Building Facilitator . Look- here's me doing a standard briefing on our first day back!
And here's a pic of me last season helping out a chick-pea.
The chick-pea's (ages 4-6) are seriously the most interesting people to talk to there. They will tell you anything and everything. They will tell this guy that works there -who has a longer pony-tail than me-that he looks like a girl and shouldn't have long hair. They will tell me that I look like I'm 110 years old. They will tell me their mom and dad fight sometimes but it's only because they love each other, right in front of their mom or dad.
I spend enough time around 4-6 year olds for me to not want kids myself, and just enough to appreciate their sheer, brutal honesty. Yesterday, I spent quite a bit of time with this one young chap who was quite the talker. I used to watch that show Kid's Say the Darndest Things with Bill Cosby, and this kid could totally be on that show...BTW watch this youtube clip of the original show with Art Linkletter you'll laugh your pants off!!
This kid, Benny, was chattin' my ear off, and I had to step away a few times to help out one of the other kids on the course. While I was gone apparently he slipped on one of the obstacles and boy did I get an earful. Forgive me in advance for the crude language, remember I'm just quoting a four year old. ;)
So I'm walking back up to him and he yells (clearly exasperated that I took soooo long to get back to him), "Miss Katie WHERE WERE YOU??!! " I explain that I was helping someone else. Then he proceeds to tell me, "Well" (with a huge huff) "While you were gone, I slipped right here! I slipped so hard it almost ripped my penis off!" then grabs his pants, shakes his head, and repeats, "Almost ripped my penis right off!" His mom was right there trying to explain to Benny that usually people don't talk about their privates in public to perfect strangers, but Benny was like, "Miss Katie's my friend. I'm going to invite her to Lake Lanier to play with my beach toys." He continues on now ignoring his mom and talking to me, "Would you like to come? I'll have to ask my mom nicely of course, and it will have to be a sunny day, and my room will have to be clean, but if I do all that then my mom will probably let me invite you! Oh and you should change these bridges, they shouldn't be so high they're like 80 percent in the air!!" (I think he meant feet, but he's four units of measurements are not his thing yet)
It was one of the most epic conversations I've ever had in my entire life.
In other news, now that the park is back open you can schedule your TEAM BUILDING day with us by contacting choka4life@gmail.com or Treetop Quest on their website. Team Building is not just for companies anymore. Last season some guys came down for a bachelor party and had the whole place to themselves and we had a blast. The team building activities I use are great for companies, groups, families and friends! If you schedule a Team Building session through Treetop Quest tell them I sent you!! This could be you.....
CHOKA is currently working on expanding our adventure/fitness programs so be on the look out for more adventures in the following months!
